What are we doing here?
You could answer this question in multiple ways, from the literal (reading this blog) and temporal (being present right now) to the more existential (asking what any of us is really doing here). For any business leader, especially at a company like ours, it can be all too easy to avoid answering altogether. Client deadlines must be met, collaboration with your colleagues requires time, and the company doesn’t just run itself. Weeks stream by, and before you know it, the year is over. But, as we all know, marking time isn’t the same thing as making progress.
This year, we have been more seriously committed to answering the question. What are we doing here, then? We’re building an end-to-end strategic content marketing agency that clients can rely on as a thought partner for fresh, creative ideas and best-in-class content and campaigns.
To continue on that path, we recently expanded our leadership team with the addition of Karianne Michelle as our VP of content marketing. In this role, she’ll work with clients on creative strategy, elevate and broaden our offerings, lead a team of strategists and marketers, and support new-business development. We’re supremely excited about the experience and ambition she brings to this party.
A key standout for us is her entrepreneurial spirit. For the past seven years, she has led Lofti, an agency she founded, to assist clients with digital content strategy, branding and messaging, and new business development. She also designed and led more than 30 career development workshops, with an emphasis on branding and storytelling. Launching these sorts of endeavors and making them successful requires a wide range of skills; we’re excited to put all of them to use.
Karianne also boasts impressive agency experience, most recently as VP at the global communications firm Weber Shandwick. There, she served a range of large clients, helped oversee a 70-person digital team, and co-led business development for the Chicago office. She also held positions at Blast Radius and Gyro, where she supported clients such as GE, Hewlett Packard, Motorola Solutions, and Procter & Gamble through award-winning creative campaigns, digital experiences, and activations.
She shares our passion for serving B2B companies—digging into strategy, developing narratives that distill sometimes complex or technical topics, and ensuring investments in content marketing clearly align with overall business strategy. Her knowledge of all these elements will elevate our offerings.
As important are Karianne’s interests and pursuits outside of work. A resident of Charlottesville, Virginia, she’s a classically trained musician who still creates music, a certified yoga instructor, and an avid paddleboarder.
So what are we doing here? Stepping up, branching out, making a bigger impact. And we’re just getting started.
